Maintenance of solar installations

Solar panel installations are exposed to all weather phenomena. Accumulated dirt or the deterioration of some materials can be the cause of a decrease in the energy production of an installation.

At Nextenergy we want to guarantee that your photovoltaic installation works at full capacity and that is why we recommend our maintenance service. This maintenance is essential for the warranty on the materials used in the installation to be effective.

You can choose between the BASIC option that includes one annual visit or the PREMIUM option with two annual visits.

Your solar installation may be losing up to 20% of its production due to not performing maintenance!

Why is maintenance of solar installations necessary?
  • To avoid a decrease in energy production that can involve between 15% and 20% losses. Solar panels are exposed to all weather phenomena, they accumulate dust and dirt, they can break, have bird droppings… causing a decrease in the amount of energy they produce and slowing down the payback time of the installation.
  • So that the guarantee of the materials is effective. Maintenance of the facilities in which any failure or deterioration is detected is essential for the guarantee to be effective. Without the corresponding maintenance, the elements lose the corresponding warranty.
  • In order to pass the mandatory periodic inspections that solar installations of more than 25 kW must carry out every 5 years. This is established in the Electrotechnical Regulation for Low Voltage in section 4.2, and if it is not done, the insured coverage will be lost in the event of any problem and production may even be paralyzed.

At Nextenergy we guarantee that your solar installation works at full capacity with the maintenance service. Preventive maintenance among other works includes the following:

1. Visual inspection of the correct condition of the modules (breaks, bird droppings…).

2. Module cleaning.

3. Checking the connectors.

4. Checking the fixing of the module to the structure.

5. Absence of contact sulfation.

6. Absence of oxidation in the circuits and soldering of the cells, normally due to the entry of humidity.

7. Checking the condition and adherence of the cables to the panel terminals. Check the ground connection and the resistance to ground potential.

8. Temperature of connections using infrared thermography. In the event that any apparently correct connection reaches a temperature above 60 ºC, its voltage and intensity will be measured, checking that it is within normal values. If necessary, this connection will be replaced.
